Audi Sailing Team was a new boat in 2008 for a seasoned and experienced all-Italian team.

As well as being a top skipper and helm in his own right, competing in the Star and the Melges classes as well, Riccardo Simoneschi has built a strong company promoting his race team activities and running events and over his three years on the MedCup he has proven a dedicated and talented skipper.

The Judel/Vrolijk design was built in New Zealand at Hakes Marine, who built the 2006 champion boat Mutua Madrileña.
 
Simoneschi steers the boat and his preference has been to run a programme which is as Italian as possible. In 2008 they struggled for consistency but showed regular flashes of great potential. They were hampered by a keel measurement anomaly which has been rectified for the 2009 season.
