Bribon
Bribón, owned by José Cusi and skippered by HM King Juan Carlos, is one of the most recognisable and followed sailing programmes in Europe.
In 2008 they were perhaps the surprise package, holding at bay most of the new boats for most of the season with their 2007 build boat. They proved the key attributes of consistent sailing, good starting and occasionally bold tactics pay off and Bribon finished in second place in 2008, winning in Murcia and finishing on the podium in three of the six Audi MedCup regattas.
Bribon was good in 2007 too. They won in Alicante in 2007 on their maiden race outing and remained a consistent force through the season. Thierry Peponnet (FRA) takes the helm this season and is a very successful and accomplished TP52 tactician/helm. Bribon’s crew is a solid, established team otherwise with double Star Olympic medallist Ross Macdonald (CAN) as tactician with Marcel van Triest (NED) navigating.
