Matador
Current TP52 World Champions, Matador (ARG) finished fourth overall in 2009 losing out on a podium place by just one single point to Artemis. This is a very talented, tight knit team which have built steadily since joining the Circuit in 2007. In 2008 they improved to podium at every regatta in the second half of the season. In 2009 they looked to carry that momentum forward winning the first regatta in Alicante, then placing third in Marseille and runners-up in Cagliari, but a sixth and eighth in the final two events of the season were too weighty to ensure a top three overall.
Typically the Matador team seems to like a challenge, as they excel when things get difficult. Perhaps one contributing factor is that this is a longstanding team who have been together for many years, indeed some core crew members have only ever sailed with the Rommers’ Matador or Alexia crews.
Skippered and run by Guillermo Parada (ARG), Matador was launched mid-March 2009 and this season worked up in Valencia and in Palma, competing at Palma Vela regatta.
