Quantum Racing

Quantum Racing set a new standard winning the 2008 Audi MedCup Curcuit and in 2009 they will certainly be one of the teams to beat again. No team has ever won back-to-back MedCup Circuits.

Their winning strategy in 2008 was about constant improvements, focusing on the end game and sheer hard work. With Terry Hutchinson on inspirational form as skipper-helm, Quantum Racing won the Circuit title in Portimao last season with a day to spare, and won three regattas en route – Cagliari, Breitling and Portugal.

Quantum Racing originally had a strong presence in the inaugural MedCup year, as Lexus Quantum, taking a close second place to Pisco Sour in 2005. Some of that core of that team were involved with the Botín & Carkeek designed second placed Warpath in 2006.

Warpath became Doug de Vos’ Windquest on the 2007 MedCup Circuit, sailing with Terry Hutchinson (USA) after he had fulfilled his role as tactician for Louis Vuitton Cup winners and America’s Cup Challengers Emirates Team New Zealand.

Now, back for the 2009 Audi MedCup Circuit, Quantum Racing will again be the synthesis of all that is best from the preceding campaigns.

Hutchinson has a strong, experienced crew including Morgan Larson as tactician, Quantum Sails lead designer Dave Armitage (USA) who sailed on Lexus Quantum and Warpath. They should be among the leading vanguard of 2009 title contenders.
