TP52 Vudu wins the Copa del Rey in ORC-0 and Beau Geste wins Cowes Week in IRC-0 !

Congratulations to Mauro Gestri and Team Vudu and to Karl Kwok and Team Beau Geste. Both 2015 boats but Vudu still in TP52 Class trim and actually participating in some 52 Super Series events this. While Beau Geste is a never ending handicap racing optimization program, masterminded by Gavin Brady. With high level wins in both IRC and ORC regattas.

This year’s and Bicentenary North Sails Cowes Week saw six boats starting in IRC-0, four of them a 52: Beau Geste, Braveheart, Gladiator and Ino Veritas, In total 110 boats raced in eight IRC Divisions. Now two hundred years old and firmly alive and kicking with about 40 starts and classes for a total of 630 boats filling up the Solent.

In contrast the Copa del Rey this year was on its 44th version but nevertheless I feel it is not just the Cowes Week of Spain but of the Med. This year ORC-0 showcased 14 boats, nine of those of 52 pedigree: Aifos 500, Arobas, Blue, Blue Carbon, Caballo Loco, Guenifey, Hispania, Red Bandit and Vudu. In total 100 boats competed in this year’s edition.
