FRAM Cleans Up Gotland Runt

Norway’s King Harald wins IRC & ORC-classes in Eurocard Round Gotland Race.

HM King Harald of Norway, on Fram XVI, won the two classes for bigger boats in Eurocard Gotland Runt as he was doublescoring in the IRC and ORC-classes. First runner up, Skypefounder Niklas Zennström on Yani, a Marten 49, gave the king and his TP52 fierce competition throughout the race, but finished second in the IRC-class. Fram XVI has already sailed four regattas this year and positioned first in all four. In three out of four the King has been on board.

King Harald was satisfied and happy:

“We had fantastic weather conditions and perfect winds, says HM King Harald. A few doldrums but that’s part of the game, he adds.”

“We are here as this is one of the big regattas of the year.”

“I really enjoy sailing. She [Fram XVI ] responds so fast when you do everything right.”

“We hade some bad luck with our light wind spinnaker, which ripped. We’d expected to use it for another 100Nm but it went ok, the wind changed direction”, King Harald said with a laugh.

The next big regatta for Team Fram XVI will be Copa del Rey.
