Sled is a 2018 Botin design build at Core Builders Composites. Owner driver Takashi (Tak) Okura from Japan leads a team of many nationalities based on a strong Kiwi backbone. It is his fourth TP52 and second new build. In 2018 Sled with a 5th overall in the 52 Super Series improved on 2017 and from there continued to aim higher. During 2019 Sled pulled some extra speed out of the hat showing her stern to the fleet in an unheard of 1, 2, 6, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 to win the final event in Porto Cervo. The team held on to this pace into 2021 resulting into the epic double of winning the 52 Super Series overall by one point from Quantum Racing and the Rolex TP52 Worlds by the same margin from Quantum Racing and Platoon!! In 2022 Team Sled just missed the podium, runner-up finishing the series in 4th. A new keel fin for 2023 might just do the trick this year, the team certainly hopes so.
