Team Vāyu
The Whitworth family sailing team come from Thailand where they have campaigned a TP52 successfully for some years before in 2021 fulfilling their ambition to come to Europe and race on the 52 SUPER SERIES. Co-owners are brothers Tom and Kevin Whitworth. Typically theirs is a pro-am team with a choice from six family members to race on board in key roles, Tom, Kevin & Malee and sons Nicholas, Don and Dylan supported by professionals like Pom Green, Manu Weiller and Mika Eid. The two absolute highlights of their 2024 season were winning the XS Newport RI Trophy and having Her Majesty Queen Suthida as crew for all five days of the Puerto Portals event.
Year 2025 will be Vayu’s fourth full 52 Super Series season. An important aspect of the Vayu program is giving Thai sailors a chance to experience and learn about top level grand prix big boat racing. Their boat was previously Team Vision Future, originally built as Sled in 2015.
