Coastal has Mean finish!

Final run into the finish of todays 30 mile coastal race in a shifty 4 knot dying breeze is great entertainment for the spectators, but must be testing for tacticians and crews. Mean Machine, leading from start to finish, made sailing look easy today, but their DFL of 2 days ago proofs this is a tough sport at any level. Tau and Quantum again put in solid performances, although both were hurt in the final run in. Quantum lost the overall lead in a few gybes. Artemis is starting to show form, finishing 2nd, they were on Mean Machine’s heels most of the race, demonstrating good reaching speeds. Bribon went furthest right in the opening beat and this time that was not the place to be. From then on it was an uphill struggle. Caixa and Cristabella made the right moves in the fluky run in and managed a 3rd and 4th on the finish line.

The top 4 are now really close in total points: Mean Machine 31, Quantum 33, Tau 34, Bribon 36 and 5th Mutua 43 points.

Mean Machine, Quantum and Tau leading the fleet after 3 days in Alicante event.
