Lanzarote, here we come!

The TP52 show has come to Lanzarote for the 2008 TP52 World Championship. Hosted by the high quality resort town and marina of Puerto Calero, allready known with many in the sailing world for their hospitality and support of yacht racing, it has been another proof of the determination of the Calero family to be involved with sailing and sailing events. The great thing is they support it from the small, the dinghy team wanting to train to the big and famous, the Volvo Ocean Race Ericsson Campaign have their training base in Puerto Calero. And now the Puerto Calero Annual Regatta, the Trofeo Cesar Manrique, for GP42’s, TP52’s and various ORC handicap classes, will be the TP52 Pre-Worlds, followed by the TP52 World Championship (20 – 25 October).

The yachts were loaded on board the MS Apollogracht with incredible skill by the loadmasters of the ship in the town of Portimao, the town that hosted the last stage of the MedCup. Sevenstar Yacht Transport  and Puerto Calero are in charge of the logistics, no mean undertaking to get so many individuals to bring their boats, tenders, containers, trailers and vans to the docks in an orderly manner.

All was unloaded in Arrecife, Lanzarote, from where it is a short trip to Puerto Calero. The teams are setting up base now. Containers are brought close to the yachts, hotel facilities or appartments are all within walking distance and the restaurants and bars are for sure tried and tested. Some claim they only do this to be able to give the sailing teams the correct info once they arrive.

Looking forward to join you soon, counting down.
